TCL is China’s largest appliance maker. Today, the company has announced that they are just opened a new plant devoted to TV production. The main purpose of the plant will be to make LCD, LED, and 3DTVs. “The time is now for TCL to start marketing and selling its products under its own brand, around the world to completely transit from ‘Made in China’ to ‘Created in China’ and promote Chinese brands on a global basis,” said TCL senior vice president Gary Yu. At maximum efficiency, the plant is expected to ship out 14 million panels each year, which is just shy of the estimated 14.28 million TVs that are sold each year.

This is great news. Most people are thinking that 3D television is a fad, but if China’s largest appliance maker is jumping on it then I’m sure it will become a staple just like HDTV has become.
