No matter what your opinion is about 3D technology, the truth is that it is coming to the home. Fortunately though, it looks like the release of this technology will go by smoother than the infamous format wars between Blu-ray and HD DVD. Today, the HDMI licensing group has released the 3D portion of their new HDMI 1.4 connection specifications. This will allow non-licensee manufacturers to make their future gadgets compatible with the 3D format. As it looks, most of the companies are going with the active shutter glasses technique, which requires viewers to purchase expensive glasses that have lenses that rapidly flash from clear to black in order to deliver the 3D effect.
