One of Sony’s newest HDTVs to be released in the UK is the KDL-40V5810. This 40” LCD HDTV has full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution and a 60000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. Recently, the reviewers from CNET released their thoughts about the KDL-40V5810. One thing they noticed is the dramatically reduced price. This is a big breath of relief since most Sony HDTVs are in the higher price range. The writers were also impressed with the overall picture quality and more importantly, the black levels. The detail was amazing and the color was excellent. However, the writers did give the TV a perfect review. They did notice that there wasn’t a very high motion processor, which meant that fast moving objects tended to blur. Also the backlighting was uneven, which made the images look grey in certain areas. However, the reviewers concluded by stating, “The Sony Bravia KDL-40V5810’s Internet and networking features may be a letdown, but this set really delivers in terms of picture quality, and that’s what counts. As a result, we think it’s not just one of the best-value sets from Sony, but from any of the big-name manufacturers.”
