Discovery, Imax and Sony Announces 3D Channel Coming Next Year

Last month, DirecTV announced the launch of their new satellite that will broadcast one of the world’s first 3D channels. Today, Discovery, Imax and Sony have teamed up to announce a joint venture to create their own 3D TV channel. The channel is not expected to officially launch until June 2011, but it will be displaying 3D programming 24/7 when it does. Sony Corporation chairman Howard Stringer said, “It is clear to us that consumers will always migrate to a better and richer entertainment experience, and together we are determined to be the leader in providing that around the world.”
