HD Nation Explains Why OLED HDTVs are Not Available Yet
Every week, the hosts of HD Nation report the latest in HD News. This week, the hosts ask one vital question to the HD industry, where are the OLEDs? Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLEDs) are supposed to be one of the new developments in the HD industry. They require no backlighting system, which ultimately reduces the display’s thickness. The technology can also deliver ultra-deep black levels that compares to plasma displays, which are considered the top in HD contrast. The main reason why the technology has not blown up in the HD industry is because of the cost to manufacturer the display. The biggest OLED on the market is a 15” display and that model costs more than many 42” LCD displays. Another reason why the technology hasn’t been scaled up is because the three different colors do not have a long life span, which is a big problem. In addition to bringing the latest news, HD Nation also does reviews of new gadgets like the Kworld PlusTV HDTV Tuner. This device is basically an HDTV in a USB stick. To use, the host only had to attach the magnetic antenna to the USB drive, and then connect it the computer. The device did all the work and instantly installed all the drivers onto the computer and was almost immediately showing the digital TV guide.
