Sony is proud to announce that they have recently signed an agreement with the PGA Tour to display the 2011 tournament season in 3D. The first event will be the Sony Open that will be in Hawaii in 2011. However, Sony also announced that they intend to experiment with the 3D technology in the 2010 Sony tournament to see the viewers’ reaction. If the test shooting works, then the rest of the deal will be put into motion. “High-definition television is already driving increased golf viewing,” PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem told reporters in a Thursday conference call. “We believe that 3D has the potential to put the fan right in the center of the action and make our telecasts even more exciting and engaging. The beauty of the Sony Open in Hawaii makes this the perfect setting to debut this technology.”
