LG Unveils World’s Thinnest HDTV

thinhdtv_a1

LG is known for creating one of the smallest LCD HDTVs back in May. Today, the company is breaking their own record by announcing a new 42” LCD LED HDTV. The old record holders measured in with a 5.9mm (0.23 inches) thickness. The new display being announced is only 2mm (0.07 inches) thick. This amazing thin design is due to the recent development of LED lamps, which allow HDTVs to dramatically loose thickness while consuming less energy. The design also allows the TV to weigh only 4 kg (8.8 lbs), which is amazing for a 42” display. The display will also feature full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution and a 120 Hz processor for smooth movement during fast action scenes and sport events. LG has not released any additional information at this point, but did announce that they will be displaying the LCD HDTV at the 2010 CES Show.
